We are seeking a Female Support Worker to provide a housing support service to women fleeing domestic abuse at our project Amber House, ensuring that they receive appropriate planned support with the view to moving them onto more permanent accommodation.

It is essential for the individual to have experience of providing support to a range of women, including black and ethnic minority women, lesbians, women with a disability, women who use drugs or alcohol, women who have mental health problems and offenders and ex-offenders. Along with knowledge of the welfare benefits system and an understanding of the effects of domestic violence, legislation relating to domestic violence and child protection issues and of the issues effecting young homeless women.

The individual should have a commitment to service user participation, the ability to work alone, be self motivated and to work as part of a team and the willingness to work outside normal office hours. Alongside a commitment to confidentiality and hostel security.

The individual should also have the ability to provide a satisfactory CRB certificate.
