We are currently seeking a Community Initiatives officer to join our friendly team based at Horizon Park, Comberton, Cambridge. If you are successful in gaining this position you will be offered a full time interim contract until the 30th of September 2011, working 35 hours per week.
Your main purpose in this varied and interesting role will be to develop and support community initiatives across the region. You will ensure that these initiatives meet the needs and priorities of customers and communities in order to improve the quality of life and increase the social inclusion of individuals and neighbourhoods.
You will also enable customers to access existing local services which will be both client specific and mainstream in nature.
In this position you will also partner with community organisations (COs), agencies and others in the voluntary and statutory sectors for the benefit of our customers in the Cambridgeshire region.
To be successful in gaining this rewarding role it is essential that you have previous experience of community development and/or working with community groups as well as experience of research administration and funding applications.
It is also essential that you have intermediate IT skills in Word and Excel and an understanding of the needs and issues relating to customers of Granta including relevant legislation, for example personalisation agenda’s and self directed support.
Due to the purpose and nature of the post you will be required to work with residents and other agencies out of normal office hours and this will include some weekend working.
It is also essential that you have access and use of a reliable vehicle and possession of a full driving license.
It would be desirable if you possess experience of organising or managing staff and/or experience of organising volunteers.
